Far Cry 6 Story Is Political and Isn't Afraid to Ask Difficult Questions, Says Ubisoft

In a blog postal service published yesterday, Far Cry 6 Narrative Director Navid Khavari tried to convey the message that the game'south story is indeed political in nature. Players will enter the Cuba-inspired fictional country of Yara and effort to liberate it from the yoke of dictator Antón Castillo (played by Giancarlo Esposito).

Our story is political.

A story nearly a modern revolution must be. There are hard, relevant discussions in Far Cry 6 about the conditions that lead to the ascension of fascism in a nation, the costs of imperialism, forced labor, the need for gratuitous-and-fair elections, LGBTQ+ rights, and more within the context of Yara, a fictional island in the Caribbean.

[...] In our approach we made certain to seek creators and collaborators for our team who can speak personally to the history and cultures of the regions we were inspired by. We also brought on experts and consultants to examine the game story multiple times over the course of the project to make sure it was being told with sensitivity. It is not for me to decide if we succeeded, merely I can say nosotros absolutely tried.

The conversations and research washed on the perspectives of those who fought revolutions in the late 1950s, early 1960s, and across are absolutely reflected in our story and characters. But if anyone is seeking a simplified, binary political statement specifically on the current political climate in Cuba, they won't find it.

What players will detect in Far Weep 6 is a story that's point-of-view attempts to capture the political complexity of a modern, present-day revolution inside a fictional context. We have attempted to tell a story with activity, adventure, and center, only that besides isn't afraid to ask hard questions. Far Weep is a brand that in its Dna seeks to accept mature, circuitous themes balanced with levity and humor. One doesn't be without the other, and nosotros have attempted to attain this balance with care.

Check out our recent hands-off preview of Far Weep half dozen, which includes an exclusive Q&A with Navid Khavari himself. The game will launch on Oct 7th for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation five, Xbox One, Xbox Series Southward|X, Google Stadia, and Amazon Luna.
